Term 4

Welcome Back

Welcome to a very busy term 4.  We have certainly attacked the first week with great gusto!

In Reading we discussed our books before we started to read them, to come up with ideas of what the books may be about, and our opinions on the subject.  We then read the books and discovered that, after further discussion, our opinions can change as we read.

We read a delightful book call 'Animals Should Definitely Not wear Clothes', and we decided that all ideas are not good ideas.  Ask your child to tell you more about this book.

We continued this theme in their writing where we came up with some really wacky ideas as initial thoughts such as "I think that we should bring paint ball guns to school."  We then had to write a supporting argument as to why this was a great idea, followed by one which says why it is possibly not such a good idea.  Ask your child what they wrote about.  You will be as impressed with their thinking skills as I am, I'm sure.

In Maths we continue our work with 100s, 10s and 1s.  They are becoming very clever with all the activities dealing with place value.

They are also revisiting addition.  We are brushing up on our skills in knowing our number facts, such as 2+3=5, etc.  We are using all sorts of skills to rapidly work out some of the trickier facts, such as 7+8.  We know that 7+7 is 14, 8 is one more that 7, so 7+8 must make 15.

Happy Birthday Katie

It was our wonderful Katie's birthday this week.  Here is Julian and Ella giving her our gift and card.  Katie brought along some yummy chocolate crackles to share, so we all had a lovely day with Katie.
